What exactly is a beta reader? These are the Guinea p—ahem—privileged volunteers who are the first to read a book apart from the editors and the author themselves. By being a beta reader for Nat 1 Publishing, you’ll be given a free digital advanced readers copy (ARC) of upcoming books. “A free book?! What’s the catch?” we hear you ask. Well, in exchange for this book, we’d like your honest feedback as a reader to make any necessary changes (Oh, and if there’s any significant changes made in the book, you’ll get a new copy. Also for free!). You’ll be given a link to a form where you can tell us what works and doesn’t work for you. Then, when the book is released, you can be one of the first people to rate and rave about it on Amazon and Goodreads. You don’t have to do that last part, but we’d really appreciate it!
Want to be a beta reader? Great! Just fill out this form at the bottom of this page and we’ll get back to you.
Want to edit? What’s wrong with you? You can, but we can’t pay you for it. Sorry.
While that’s going to make editing a solid “no” for most people, the few of you that simply love to play with words and want to beat the beta readers at getting to new material, this could be right up your alley! Some experience at editing would be nice, but what’s more import is solid knowledge of grammar, sentence syntax, and a madman’s perseverance for the tedious hunt of the elusive typo. We’ll even help you out along the way—this could be a great opportunity to hone your skills!
Oh. And you’ll also get a free copy of the book, and if it is made available in paperback, a physical copy, too!
Interested? Fill in the form at the bottom of the page!
All communication between volunteer editors, beta readers, and staff is done on Nat 1’s official Discord channel—meaning you will need to have access to Discord and a handle to volunteer.
